What is Kickboxing?

Kickboxing muay thai or thai boxing is a combat sport between two individuals that occurs in a ring utilizing various combinations of punches, elbows, knees, kicks, boxing and clinch fighting over the course of variable numbers of 3 minute rounds.  Muay Thai has proven itself highly effective in real fights and is popularized by cage fighting competitions such as the UFC.  

Many styles of kickboxing exist, each with their own sets of rules. No matter which style of kickboxing you are working with, all forms incorporate speed, power, explosiveness, agility, finesse, balance, high level cardio conditioning. These skills are combined with mental and physical toughness and grit.

The types of strikes utilized require full body activation with pivoting from the ball of the foot and turning over the hip which intensively trains the core and glutes. There is also something to be said for the significant stress relief and empowerment that comes from practicing combat sports. We can admit it! Sometimes it just feels good to hit things!
